SAN FRANCISCO, CA -  On Friday, January 12, SEIU 1021 members working for the City College of San Francisco (SFCCD) voted to ratify their new three-year contract, with 99.4% voting ‘yes.’ 

Classified workers are encouraged that with this new contract, members will be safer on the job and receive the support they need to strengthen and maintain an environment for everyone on campus to thrive. Highlights in the contract include new climate justice language, a wage increase of 7% for ‘23-’24, retroactive to July ‘23, the addition of Juneteenth as a holiday, improved health and safety precautions, and an increased uniform allowance. 

“Our bargaining team rallied hard and worked diligently to get this new contract that benefits all classified workers,” said Justin Genevro, a senior clerk with SFCCD and chapter steward. “This contract includes new language that allows more flexibility in custodians’ schedules for their safety, increased uniform stipends, new climate justice language, and wage increases. This will positively impact our members and our students.”

After over nine months of negotiations, members, with support from students, teachers, and community allies, engaged in workplace actions, including a successful rally in front of the SFCCD campus and speaking up at Board of Trustees meetings.

“When we stand together, we secure a fair contract,” said SFCCD Classified Senate President Maria Salazar-Colón. “When we fight, we win!”
