New contract raises wages and improves health and safety conditions

On December 27, SEIU Local 1021 Felton United Workers voted unanimously to approve a historic new three-year contract after a year and a half of frustrating negotiations.

This is the strongest contract they’ve ever had with Felton. 100% of voting members supported the new contract.

“This is a huge win for Felton United members. From wage increases to stronger worker protections, this contract is possible because of our members standing in solidarity with each other and not backing down,” said Baraka Gambo, lead teacher and bargaining team delegate. “We are lifting up our members with these important wage increases and showing what union power can do.”

This new contract will give critical relief to some of the lowest-paid workers at Felton.

Highlights of the new contract include an SF Prop C wage increase and 10% increase across the bargaining unit in year one (retroactive from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023); a salary adjustment for years of service; longevity bonuses based on years of service; a 5% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA); plus 3% average salary increases and crucial enhancements to health and safety.

“We are stronger together and proud of the new contract we’ve all fought so hard for,” added Reyna Ferreria, lead teacher and bargaining team delegate.
